A Flower-Soaked, ABBA-Dancing, Creek-Swimming Kind of Day | Ruth & Nick’s Almonte Wedding
If you’re planning a wedding in the Ottawa Valley and dreaming of something non-traditional, elegant, and overflowing with colour, Ruth and Nick’s day might just be the inspiration you didn’t know you needed.
Set just outside of Almonte, Ontario, this backyard wedding felt like a storybook—only better, because every detail was real, personal, and wildly heartfelt. Ruth’s mom grew every single flower that covered the ceremony space, adorned the tables, and spilled out of every corner. The result? A wedding quite literally dripping in blooms—lush, local, and entirely homegrown.
Nick and his groomsmen kicked off the day with a swim in the creek that runs through the venue’s property. There was something magical about that moment—barefoot, sun-drenched, and easy. Meanwhile, family began arriving from across the globe. Nick’s relatives flew in from England to be there, bringing with them a warmth and joy that filled every corner of the day.
This wasn’t your typical wedding—and that’s exactly what made it shine. Ruth and Nick tossed tradition aside in favour of a celebration that felt like them. The music? ABBA. The vibe? Joyful, stylish, and full of movement. From the ceremony to the dance floor, the day pulsed with life.
As an Almonte wedding photographer, this day was everything I love about documenting weddings in the Ottawa Valley: meaningful locations, floral magic, and couples who lead with heart. If you're a bride or couple planning a wedding in Almonte, Pakenham, or anywhere in Lanark County and beyond, I’d love to help you tell your story.
